On 15 January 2026, H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, delivered her New Year’s greetings to members of the Diplomatic Corps at the President’s Palace in Valletta, where she emphasised the importance of peace, diplomacy and respect for international law in a world marked by conflict and geopolitical tensions.
In her address, the President also noted recent developments in Venezuela as highlighting the fragility of international law and the need for all states to uphold human rights and democratic transitions through peaceful means.
The Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Malta, Prince Augusto Ruffo di Calabria, participated in the event, reaffirming the Order’s commitment to advancing international cooperation, the rule of law, and peaceful solutions to global challenges.
The gathering provided an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic engagement and reaffirm shared commitments to peace, international law and constructive multilateralism.
