The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Malta mourns the passing of Fra’ Jean-Louis Mainguy, Professed Knight residing at Fort St Angelo, who returned to the House of the Father on 14 August 2024.

Born in Beirut in 1953, Fra’ Jean-Louis became the first Professed Knight from the Middle East after joining the Order in 2007 and making his Solemn Vows in 2014.

From 2023 onwards, he made Fort St Angelo his home, where he placed his professional expertise and spiritual dedication at the service of the Order, contributing significantly to the preservation and renewal of its historic spaces.

The Grand Master, Fra’ John Dunlap, described him as “a model of faith, dedication and service… whose tireless commitment and noble spirit will remain etched in our hearts.”

The Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Malta, together with the Embassy staff, extends heartfelt condolences to his family and joins them in prayer for the repose of his soul.
