On April, 10th 2025 a formal dinner was hosted by the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Malta, in honour of Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of the Republic of Malta. The President was accompanied by her husband, Dr Anthony Spiteri Debono.
The dinner took place inside the historic Cavaliers’ Hall within St John Cavalier, the seat of the Embassy of the Sovereign Order in Valletta. Exceptionally opened for the occasion, the hall was illuminated by candlelight, creating a warm and evocative atmosphere. Guests were seated at a single long table, reminiscent of the traditional banquets of the Order’s medieval past, reinforcing the spirit of unity and shared tradition.
The evening was hosted by the H.E. Ambassador Augusto Ruffo di Calabria together with his spouse H.S.H. Princess Irma Cristiana de Windisch-Graetz, in the presence more than 30 distinguished guests from Malta’s religious, diplomatic, and cultural communities.
“It was an honour to pay tribute to the President of the Republic in such a meaningful setting,” said the Ambassador. “This evening reflects the deep bonds of friendship and values, past and present, that unite the Order and Malta.”
Among the guests attending were His Grace Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna and several Heads of Mission accredited to Malta representing the United Kingdom, Italy, Egypt, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the United States of America. Also present were H.E. Dr Michael Grech, President of the Maltese Association of the Sovereign Order, and H.E. Fra’ Jean-Louis Mainguy, High Representative of the Grand Master at Fort St Angelo.
The Embassy’s First Counsellor, Dr. Laura Colnaghi Calissoni, and the Counsellor, Marquis Dr. Carlo Clavarino, attended this special event.
The evening was a fitting celebration attesting to the historic and ongoing relationship between the Republic of Malta and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. In an atmosphere of warmth and conviviality, the distinguished personalities present shared in a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed diplomatic friendship.
