On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Maltese Association of the Order of Malta, a programme of commemorative events was held in Malta, with official engagements in Gozo and Valletta on 7 December 2025.
The milestone was marked by the private visit of the His Most Eminent Highness the Prince and Grand Master Fra’ John Dunlap to Malta, undertaken specifically to attend the anniversary celebrations. H.E. Ambassador Augusto Ruffo di Calabria had the honour to accompany His Highness in the course of the official programme together with the Grand Chancellor, H.E. Riccado Paternò di Montecupo, the Receiver of the Common Treasure, H.E. Fra’ Francis Vassallo and H.E. the President of the Maltese Association and the Association Council, Dr Michael Grech.
The anniversary programme started off in Gozo with the inauguration of the renovated premises for the Association members and volunteers in Xewkija. Ambassador Ruffo di Calabria accompanied the Grand Master during this visit which was followed by a Mass celebrated at the Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu Basilica in Gharb.
The commemoration continued in Valletta, where a gala dinner was held at the Grand Master’s Palace with the gracious permission and with the participation of H.E. the President of the Republic of Malta, Mrs. Myriam Spiteri Debono.
The event brought together institutional representatives, members of the Sovereign Order and invited guests, highlighting both the significance of the Grand Master’s presence and the enduring historical relationship and bond between the Order of Malta and the Maltese Republic.
