The Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Republic of Malta is very proud to have been chosen as one of the iconic venues of The Three Palaces festival, which runs from 27 October to 1 November 2026 and takes place exclusively in some of Malta\u2019s most significant historic sites. One of Valletta\u2019s landmarks, St John\u2019s Cavalier joins Verdala Palace, Palazzo Parisio, St Paul\u2019s Cathedral, St John\u2019s Co-Cathedral, the Church of St Francis of Assisi, the Grand Master\u2019s Palace, Palazzo de La Salle and the Auberge d\u2019Aragon in this year\u2019s programme.<\/p>\n
Built on the premise that \u201cour ordinary is actually extraordinary\u201d, the festival invites audiences to rediscover the magnificent buildings we pass by every day, through intimate performances in which emerging talents perform alongside established Maltese and international artists. The Embassy shares the festival\u2019s belief that everyone should have access to Malta\u2019s heritage, art and culture, and is delighted to open its doors to the public for this occasion.<\/p>\n
On Friday, 30 October at 8 pm, the Embassy will host \u201c\u2026and other stories\u201d, an evening devoted to musical storytelling, with Tricia Dawn Williams (piano), Fiorella Camilleri (flute) and Karol Aquilina (guitar). In the intimate space of this fortress-bastion, the performers will lead the audience through stories told not in words but in rhythm, breath and gesture.<\/p>\n
The evening opens with Improvvisando<\/em>, the first of Edward Zgraja\u2019s Virtuoso Flamenco Studies for Flute<\/em>, in which the flute becomes storyteller, singer and dancer, drawing on the ancient Andalusian tradition of cante jondo in a homage to Johann Sebastian Bach.<\/p>\n At the heart of the programme, The Toy Piano Corner<\/em> brings up to five toy pianos to the stage in a sequence of musical miniatures by Phyllis Chen, Olivia Kieffer, Alex Vella Gregory, Dominique Charpentier, Paul Max Edlin, Veronique Vella and Stephen Montague: a carousel, a gift, a vignette, the coming of dawn, inviting listeners to rediscover familiar sounds with the curiosity of childhood.<\/p>\n The concert closes with Paco de Luc\u00eda\u2019s Reflejo de Luna<\/em> and Astor Piazzolla\u2019s Histoire du Tango<\/em> for flute and guitar, which follows the tango\u2019s journey through the twentieth century, from Bordel 1900<\/em> and Caf\u00e9 1930<\/em> to Nightclub 1960<\/em> and Concert d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui<\/em>.<\/p>\n
